Will Barnes Day Picnic

Willis G. Barnes served on the Clean County Commission from 1999-2016 where he spearheaded many programs including the Annual Countywide Litter Cleanup, the Clean Business Forum and multiple outreach events throughout the community. In addition to Will’s contributions to the Clean County Commission, he volunteered with Parks & Recreation, American Legion Post 1776, the James City Ruritans and the Williamsburg Land Conservancy. Will’s daily motto was to work together for the good of the community by "doing good and giving back." Following his passing in early June 2016, the Board of Supervisors proclaimed June 14 as "Will Barnes Day" in James City County.

Every June the Clean County Commission sponsors the Will Barnes Day Picnic, where it recognizes its volunteers to inspire others to follow in Will’s footsteps.
